Review of the OtterBox iPhone 13 PopSocket Case

The OtterBox iPhone 13 PopSocket Case includes a PopSocket Pop-Grip that snaps in and out of the case’s back. When you’re ready for a new one, close it flat, “press down, and turn to swap the PopTop.” Aside from that, you’re looking at a Pro Otter Symmetry Series case made with 50% recycled materials and DROP+ tech that can withstand “3X as many drops as military standard (MIL-STD-810G 516.6),” as well as the usually raised bezel surrounding the front display and camera array back.

The case comes in black, Digitone Graphic (Black/White/Multi-Color), Tranquil Waters (Blue), and the Day Trip Graphic (Green/Blue/Purple) shown here.

There is no MagSafe support here, and you must remove the Pop-Grip on the back to use wireless Qi-based charging, but that is to remain expected for a case with an extra handle grip hanging off the back. While MagSafe is not supported, the point is compatible with “PopSockets PopTop, PopSockets Car Vent Mount, and PopSockets Multi-Surface Mount.”

The OtterBox iPhone 13 PopSocket Case also includes a silver-based antimicrobial additive, which “helps inhibit microbial growth and defends the case exterior against many common bacteria.”

Here’s a closer look at the specifications:

DROP+ | 3X the number of drops as the military standard (MIL-STD-810G 516.6)

The case stays infused with a silver-based additive that prevents microbial growth indefinitely.

Long-lasting antimicrobial technology protects the case’s exterior from many common bacteria*.

**Made from 50% recycled plastic

PopSockets PopGrip remains built into the case for a slim profile that fits easily into pockets.

PopTop designs are simple to replace; close flat, press down, and turn to swap the PopTop.

Wireless charging stands are supported (you may need to remove PopTop)

About Otterbox iPhone 13 Popsocket Review

I’m not looking for a PopSocket or a case with one built in, but the OtterBox iPhone 13 PopSocket Case has been a pleasant surprise. It certainly adds some extra grip to the iPhone 13 experience, but the lack of MagSafe gear and the difficulties with wireless charging makes this case unappealing to me.

The OtterBox iPhone 13 PopSocket Case is the best option I’ve seen so far for people who want that PopSocket on the back, which you presumably do if you’re reading this. Then, when you’re sticking the PopGrip on another case and can cleanly remove and replace it as needed, you don’t have to deal with that annoying 3M-like adhesive. You also get a high-quality OtterBox case to go with it.

Getting the phone in and out of the case is extremely difficult – it took me a second to be confident enough to jam it in there in fear of a button on my iPhone 13 snapping off. But once I got over it and just shoved it in, everything was fine, and I ended up with a particularly form-fitting cover.

Finally, the OtterBox iPhone 13 PopSocket Case appears to be one of the better options for those interested in the PopGrip experience. It’s more expensive than buying a cheap case from Amazon and attaching a PopGrip to it, but you’re also getting OtterBox quality and drop protection.

Conclusion:

I would mention waiting for a sale (such as the one that is currently running! ), but in any case, you get what you pay for here. It is a high-quality iPhone 13 case that offers peace of mind if you drop it, thanks to an integrated PopGrip that you can remove and replace as needed, not to mention the antimicrobial treatment.
